Circle of Power and Respect started our day today. In the current event we heard about scientists trying to restore the arctic ice caps. Related to this I showed the kids a TED talk on young inventor’s plan to recycle styrofoam. TED talk I also showed them the TED talk because it stressed the importance of testing in a science project and that sometimes there are many failures before there is any success. We then shared our Down Behind the Dustbin poems. They were fantastic! We then started to work on our Alphabet Poems. Read aloud was before recess. After recess, the kids worked a little more on their poems (due tomorrow) and then we were off to the gym where we finished up our dance unit in PE. What better way to end a dance unit than doing the Chicken Dance and the Macarena. After lunch, there was a flurry of activity with kids trying to get their final term passion projects approved. I think that there were only a couple of hold outs. We ended the day with the kids doing the second half of the Math4today sheet and then working on their Albanesi cards.
