Our class meeting started our day today. I then introduced the students to infographics. The students then collected their rain gauge information. When they returned we continued our look at infographics from the book By the Numbers from National Geographic Kids. More importantly we looked at how they went about making an infographic. The students will be making their own infographic for an extreme weather event. We will do an example together in class in the coming days. They then had some time to work on their literature circle roles ahead of tomorrow’s week two deadline. Read aloud was before recess. After recess, the grade fours were off to E-FSA’s and the fives continued their work with area and the sixes with angles. After lunch, we talked a lot about our first Prime Minister, John A. Macdonald and some of the other prime ministers that are on our currency. We then started a conversation about the Constitution and The Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Students then started to write their own constitutions for their countries. We will finish this tomorrow. We ended the day in the gym where the people from Wheelchair Basketball BC were in and did a demonstration with the kids and they all had an opportunity to use one of the ten sport wheelchairs that are here for the week.
