We started the day with a “Welcome Back” assembly. Many things were discussed including the upcoming Terry Fox Run next Friday. Monday will be nickel day, everyone please bring a nickel if you can for Terry. We then did our first appreciation circle of the year. I read aloud all the appreciations that the kids and I have submitted throughout the week. There is then a draw to select a winner for the week. After that the digital projector was working so we did our read along of Wonderstruck. After recess, the kids worked on setting up their binders. Students may have also brought home extras of their supplies. We then started the story of 14 Cows for America. After lunch we finished the story that looked at the Masai people of Kenya’s response to the tragic events that occurred on 9/11 fourteen years ago. The students then had some “play dough” to make something that represents part of their lives. (In between that we had our first fire drill.) We ended the day with playground practice.
