We started today going over examples for some of the upcoming assignments. We started by reviewing a Venn Diagram with the comparison between an airplane and a car. The students will be completing their own Venn for a BC and North American legend of their choosing. This will be due on February 2. The map of where their legend is from will also be due on that day. The students were given a map to use for this activity. Students were also given a storytelling map to help them organize their thoughts around their selected legend for Global Fair. We also went over the outline and an example of creating your own legend. Ours was based upon the Raven stealing Salmon. The students legend will be due on the 30th of January. Read aloud was before recess. After recess, the grade fours were off to write their first section of the FSA. The fives and sixes were tasked with finding out the Who, what, when, where, why, and how of a potlatch. (Please have done for tomorrow. ) After lunch, the grade fours continued their work with mass, the fives with capacity and sixes with measuring angles. We ended the day in the gym playing the second round of Superman and then a few games of pass ketball.
